The total cost of any air pollution control (APC) system includes far more than just the initial capital cost. All the other costs are reoccurring and continue for the life of the equipment. In many cases, those are far more costly than the original expense.
All of the costs to own and operate an APC system need to be included with the capital cost in the overall evaluation:
- Fuel cost
- Electric cost
- Foundation cost
- Maintenance and operating labor cost
- Production down time cost due to APC system issues
- Replacement component cost
- Cost of adaptation to secondary energy recovery systems
In order to find the best and most economical solution for a process application, then, a complete evaluation of the application with the associated APC system needs to ensure that not only the initial capital cost, but all of the costs, are minimized.
This evaluation requires an experienced OEM vendor with knowledge, skill, understanding, familiarity, and know-how of both the application and the best selection and integration of the APC equipment features.
